First Elite Development Campus held in Greece

The campus in Athens began the activity for 2020/21

The VCF Academy in Greece has begun its 2020/21 season with the first ever ‘Elite Development Campus’ in Athens. The campus, which took place from September 3rd-6th at the rennovated Fous de Foot facilities, followed health and safety measures established by the Greek government and the Ministry of Culture and Sport, ensuring that the young footballers present were completely safe.

A group of players from around Southeast Europe, born between 2003 and 2008, enjoyed their return to the pitch for training friendlies and evaluations from the VCF Academy coaches. Amongst those overseeing the sessions was Toni Navarro, head of the Valencia CF Soccer Programs.

The aim of the Elite Development Campuses is to identify and develop the most talented young players in Greece and Southeast Europe, Those who display the most potential will have the opportunity to enter the Elite Development Programme, and train at specific campuses under experienced coaches using the Valencia CF methodology.

Players considered to be ready to take the next step will be called up for the creation of an ‘international team,’ which will train and compete with the best from other countries in specialised campuses and international tournaments.

The next stages of the programme will take place in November and January.
